The Emerald Triangle is deep into the outdoor harvest season, and on top of whatever’s happening on the farm, there’s no shortage of cannabis events happening around the region. Whether you’re interested in cannabis competitions, cannabis compliance, compost tea, or comedians, we put together some of the upcoming events in Mendo and beyond over the next month to sure you’re staying busy.
Wednesday, Nov. 15 – Mendocino County pesticide training for cannabis cultivators, 10:30am – 12pm at Harwood Hall, 44400 Willis Ave. in Laytonville. “This training is designed to help cannabis cultivators become familiar with the requirements for using pesticides in a commercial setting.” Space is limited to 70, you can register here. Wednesday, Nov. 15 – Mendocino County Farm Bureau post fire agricultural and rural properties meeting, 9am – 1:30pm at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, 200 S. School Street in Ukiah. Covering a range of topics related to fire recovery and resources, with representatives from many local, state, and federal agencies. Opportunity to ask individual questions afterwards. Free, but you can register here.
Saturday, Nov. 19 – Fire “Re-leaf Benefit” event, 12 – 8pm at Kure Wellness at 800 Lake Mendocino Drive in Ukiah. Fundraiser to support cannabis farmers affected by the fire, music, local food, farmers, and a raffle.
Saturday, Nov. 19 – The Ganjier’s Golden Tarp Awards, 10am – 7pm at the Mateel Community Center, 59 Rusk Lane in Redway. The California light dep awards will be livestreamed for those who can’t make it. You can become a judge, or listen to speakers, including industry experts, local farmers, and Fiona Ma, peruse the vendors, or listen to the music on the lawn. Saturday, Nov. 25 – Ngaio Bealum at The Alley Bay & Lounge, 1401 N State St in Ukiah. The cannabis comedian who introduced last year’s Emerald Cup will be in Ukiah for a night, go have a laugh.
Tuesday, Dec. 5 – California Department of Agriculture CalCannabis training on the new cannabis cultivation license requirements, at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center at 200 S. School Street. You can register for the free event here, seating is limited. A recording of a similar training session will be posted by Nov. 30. “We will show you how to use the state’s new online cannabis-cultivation licensing application system and we’ll provide details on eligibility, required documents, compliance rules, site requirements, and more.”
Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 – 10 – The Emerald Cup Awards at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds,1350 Bennett Valley Rd in Santa Rosa. Deadline for entry to compete for any any category is November 17. $50 of every entry fee goes directly to the Emerald Cup’s Fire Relief Fund. Founded by Laytonville’s Tim Blake in 2003, this year the Emerald Cup features a Regenerative Farm Award, alongside two days worth of vendors, music, speakers, the awards, and more.
Thursday, Dec.14 – CalCannabis cultivation license training, same deal as above, but in Eureka, at 12:30pm at the Sequoia Conference Center, 901 Myrtle Ave.
