At its first meeting following its annual summer hiatus, the Redlands City Council will hold public hearings on a proposal to ban commercial marijuana activity and an ordinance to increase trash rates.
The council takes up these and other matters Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Although some have said the potential revenue from marijuana sales in Redlands is “something to think about” since voters in November legalized recreational marijuana use and sales, the commission cited uncertainty in state and federal regulations in recommending the ban.
Meanwhile, the council already has OK’d a three-part increase in trash collection rates that would cost the average residential customer another $3.42 a month beginning in October, followed by increases in 2018 and 2019.
On Tuesday, the council will consider the ordinances needed to execute the fee increase.
