California’s medical marijuana landscape may soon undergo a change if the proposed changes in medical marijuana laws are upheld. Here are ten things that you can expect as a user.
1. Dispensaries will remain open only between 6am and 9pm. That’s a big change from the all-night dispensaries that cater to customers now.
2. Buyers will be restricted to eight ounces of medical cannabis a day. There’s no clarity on what the eight ounces specifically covers, because if it’s a concentrate, then eight ounces are more than enough to see even the most dependent medical user through the day.
3. With a valid ID and a physician’s prescription, you will be able to purchase medical weed. That’s pretty much the case even now.
4. In California, dispensaries may allow buyers to smell the wares. Washington and Colorado do not allow this practice. The sample product cannot be sold, it must be destroyed.
5. The weed will only be available in child-resistant packages. You won’t be able to purchase it loose.
6. Don’t bother asking for a free sample. Because you won’t get it.
7. You can order a home delivery. The delivery person must be at least 21 years old, and an employee of the dispensary. The deliveries will happen between 6am and 9pm.
8. You will have to receive the delivery and sign the appropriate document. Medical marijuana cannot be handed to another person, family member, or friend.
9. The regulations will come at a cost, approximately an additional $500 per patient per year.
10. The additional money that you will pay will ensure that you get a quality product and that the contents are exactly as the label states.

I’m not mad that they will be closing earlier….why I’m upset about are the free samples! It is a great way to show off a new product!
I agree! I always love getting little free joints!
It doesn’t seem like there are many changes that are going to change the way people who can legally buy and use currently buy and use the product.
I agree! I’m fine with the changes as long as we can keep using our medical cards to get what we need
I don’t really see how this can upset people…the title made it seem like there was going to be 100 changes that make it so much harder to buy and use. 8 oz is a great amount for DAILY buying.
I don’t think there is any reason for medical cannabis to be handed off to a friend or family member. The increase in price per year is NOTHING compared to it being revoked completely
I guess the 8 oz daily limit is to help avoid sharing with people who are not legally aloud to smoke. I mean at the end of the day if everyone goes through the proper steps it won’t be ruined for everyone else.
Do you how how much 8 oz is?! That is no where near enough!
8oz is 1 US cup. That is fucking plenty. People like you are what is going to ruin everything for everyone!
I think the normalized business hours will be better for everyone. Places that sell pot should not be open 24 hours.
If increased cost means quality products then I’m okay with these changes!
What is smelling the product going to do to change anything? You can’t get high off of smelling a product!
Well opening the product to smell would make it a test product then would no longer be able to smell. Just ask questions and choose based on what you enjoy or what is recommended. At the end of the day there is not the biggest difference in smell plus you are still going to get the effect you want once you smoke it. It is a MINOR change that we can live with.
I wonder if it is going to be put into a database so you are unable to buy from other dispensaries in the same day…
